Cayuse Shared Services (CSS) focuses on the internal business within the Cayuse Family of businesses. CSS provides HR Solutions for Cayuse employees, establishes relationships within the communities Cayuse operates in, and aids with business contract support.

Primary Focus

The Controller position is a viable part of the on-going success of the company. The Controller must be able to work independently to analyze and record financial data to the proper general ledger accounts following all policies and procedures. The Controller must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment. All duties and responsibilities are performed in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Core Values of Cayuse Holdings.

Duties:

  • Prepares, delivers and interprets financial reports for the CFO, Finance Leadership Team and the Executive Management Team
  • Creates regularly scheduled and ad hoc financial reports as needed to assist in the effective management of Cayuse Holdings
  • Works closely with other Finance leadership to ensure continuity of Finance processes and consistent implementation of policies, programs, laws, and regulations across subsidiary companies.
  • Creates, recommends and maintains Cayuse Holdings accounting practices and supporting policies
  • Ensures compliance with Cayuse Holdings policies and procedures as well as Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Works with Human Resources to recommend guidelines to the Executive Management team to determine annual pay and salary range adjustments.
  • Maintains Cayuse Holdings employee bill rates to ensure accuracy in scoping projects and maintaining a company forecast.
  • Participates in rate negotiation and review for all insurance coverage including liability and group health insurance and for all company projects.
  • Oversees the financing on high dollar capital expenditures
  • Identifies capital expenditures in the budget requiring financing; evaluates related financing information; coordinates the financing process
  • Responsible for ensuring all daily, monthly and annual reports are completed timely and in compliance with department accounting practices and policies.
  • Collects and maintains budget information, prepares and implements the fiscal year budget; prepares the budget calendar for approval and distribution; updates budgetary guidelines and instructions. Includes preparing budgets for various revenue accounts, costs and other financing issues.
  • Provides information and assistance to the Executive Team regarding budgetary issues.
  • Communicates with Cayuse Holdings Units' Managing Directors and Program Managers regarding budgetary and other fiscal matters
  • Oversees the audit process, including collection and preparation of all relevant documents, communication with auditors, timelines and final reports
  • Interacts with auditors on a routine basis to provide information and assist in the audit process
  • Ensures timely and accurate payment and communication with vendors, suppliers, and employees with department-related questions and concerns.
  • Supervises assigned Payroll Administration personnel

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's or advanced degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or related disciplines

  • CPA license or other relevant financial designation or certifications or combination of related experience or education

  • 8-10 year experience in Accounting or Finance related fields with prior supervisory experience; controller or senior accountant experience preferred

  • Relevant industry experience in Department of Defense (DOD) and/or other government contracting standards, reviews and audits strongly desired

  • Knowledge and a solid understanding of statutory and regulatory government contracting references and compliance requirements (e.g., FAR, DFAR, CFAR, CAS, DCCA/DCMA)

  • Relevant experience in planning, design, implementation and/or operation of financial information systems with proficiency and/or familiarity with Deltek CostPoint and/or Unanet Systems preferred

  • Experience in designing, maintaining, and/or testing controls and compliance related to Financial Accounting best practices, GAAP, and related policies, processes, and procedures

  • Ability and willingness to quickly learn and put to use new skills and knowledge brought about by rapidly changing information and/or technology

  • 3-5 year experience in supervising personnel and the Accounting and Payroll functions

  • Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines
  • Ability to organize work; establish and maintain an appropriate organizational structure, and delegate authority to the staff to accomplish plans
  • Close attention to detail required with the ability to process and apply diverse and complex amounts of data
  • Ability to use logical and creative thought processes
  • Ability to maintain a very high level of confidentiality
  • Must be able to pass a background check.
  • May require additional background checks as required by projects and/or clients at any time during employment.
